“The Program not only provides up-skilling of our existing tradespeople but it offers a genuine career path for our electrical apprentices to ensure a
continuous flow of qualified workers for plant areas as well as higher retention rates.”

Monica Joseph, Superintendent of Electrical Maintenance, Copper Concentrator

“This program is certainly delivering the benefits we are looking for with minimum interruption to our operations.”

Challenge

Early in 2015, SAGE Automation commenced delivery of a third round of Instrumentation Training at Mount Isa Mines. The training program aimed to address the shortage of qualified instrumentation professionals in the region.

Solution

With focus on the practical skills rather than the qualification, the training was targeted to address both maintenance and troubleshooting skill sets, which helps reduce the risk of downtime in the plant.

The program was delivered on site using modern, site-specific instrumentation training rigs.
