Mt Isa Instrumentation Training
7 September 2012
In February 2012, SAGE Didactic and RMIT University began our first delivery of the Certificate IV in Electrical-Instrumentation in Mount Isa. Within this course is embedded the SAGE Didactic “Introduction to Automation” program.
SAGE Didactic provides education and training solutions for industrial technologies utilised in today’s workplace, including training equipment and associated educational learning resources. It is backed by Australia’s leading independent electrical control systems integration company, SAGE Automation, and has strategic collaborations with the world’s foremost industrial technology manufacturers, educators and research institutes such as RMIT University, who have been delivering instrumentation training for more than 100 years.
Due to further requests from business, the decision has been made to commence another Electrical-Instrumentation course in February 2013.
Skills Queensland has provided funding assistance for delivery of the first course, as electrical-instrumentation falls into a category in the Federal Governments National Skills Needs List.
As part of the next proposed course, SAGE Didactic will take on the role of Lead Organisation & lodge an application under the Federal Government’s National Workforce Development Fund, to assist with the cost involved in delivering the course in Mount Isa. Subsidies range from 33%-66% dependent upon the number of full time employee’s (FTE).
The training is focused on up-skilling and cross-training to address the skills gap around the support of site automation, process control and instrumentation.
Training will be delivered jointly by subject experts from SAGE Didactic and RMIT University as the Registered Training Organisation at the Mount Isa Institute of TAFE.
Specialist training equipment built by SAGE Didactic will provide students with a strong industry relevant learning experience.
The “Introduction to Automation” course is also available as a stand-alone five day course, Co-Delivered by SAGE Didactic & Mount Isa Institute of TAFE.
Xstrata Mt Isa Mines Ltd and Stanwell Corporation have indicated commitment for a number of students to attend our next training courses, however there are still a few positions still available.
