SAGE Automation will move its South Australian office to the Tonsley innovation precinct in 2017.

The move, heavily supported by the South Australian Government, aligns with our focus on agility and efficiency within our business.

South Australia's urban renewal authority, Renewal SA, negotiated the lease to secure SAGE Automation as an anchor tenant for the site. SAGE Automation Managing Director, Andrew Downs shares the excitement, "SAGE Automation is delighted to be moving our national headquarters to the new Tonsley precinct. It is an excellent opportunity for our company to work side by side with organisations like ours, who are driving the industrial future of South Australia. The transformation of our local industries will rely on innovative technology, so it is an excellent fit for SAGE Automation."

Together with Renewal SA we are working on the detailed designs for their new headquarters and offices, which will provide SAGE Automation with valuable space to expand in the future.

SAGE Automation will be located on the western side of the Main Assembly Building (MAB) in an area spanning approximately 3100 square metres – making them one of the largest tenants within the MAB.

The Manufacturing and Innovation Minister, Kyam Maher comments, "SAGE Automation is one of our biggest success stories with work across the globe, and sees the benefits of being co-located with other innovative businesses at Tonsley. The company is investing in the future of Tonsley with approximately 120 staff to be based there".

The custom designed Tonsley facility will include an effective and efficient open plan layout featuring numerous formal and informal meeting spaces, both within our building and within the broader Tonsley 'Town Square'. This will support greater team collaboration and will also enable a consolidation of IT infrastructure equipment.

Our manufacturing facility will also be re-located to Tonsley and enjoy a layout which continues the lean concepts which have already delivered efficiency improvements to our Manufacturing Line of Business for some years now. The workshop space will be centred around a smart flow of materials and also feature easy access for panel transportation.

SAGE Automation shares a rich history with the Tonsley site, as the former home of Mitsubishi in South Australia, where SAGE delivered a number of projects. A walk through the historic site today still gives glimpses of the industrial equipment which was the backbone of the Mitsubishi production line. The SAGE office will be located in the very same spot as the former Main Assembly Building.

The 61 hectare Tonsley site has been developed to be a hub for those driving the industrial future of South Australia, one of thriving high-value manufacturing, cutting edge healthcare, assistive technologies, cleantech and renewable energy, software and simulation as well as mining and energy services.

Tonsley will intrinsically link the prominent businesses in innovative technology with leading education and research centres, including Flinders University and TAFE, to deliver a meeting of minds to drive collaboration and transformation for South Australia.

The State Government is transforming Tonsley into a collaborative and high-value industry, education and residential precinct, where business people, researchers, tertiary students, industries and companies can interact. We are certainly delighted to have been selected to be a part of Tonsley and will be sharing updates as our facility is developed and our move draws near.
