Commitment to Safety

SAGE has an Integrated Management System (IMS) that encompasses Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environment.  The IMS documentation covers all the elements for the 3 standards ISO 9001, AS/NZS 4801 and ISO 14001 as well as legislative requirements for both Occupational Health & Safety and Environment.  The IMS aims to instil a Quality, Safety and Environmental culture across all business units through integration and communication at all levels.

Occupational Health and Safety

SAGE has attained certification to AS / NZS 4801: 2001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems by DQS.  SAGE aspires to zero harm to people.  Management is committed to having a proactive preventative approach to health and safety management which promotes a culture of 'safety is a shared responsibility'.  Please refer to SAGE's Safety Policy below for more detail:

SAGE instils a safety culture across its business through a thorough employee corporate induction which includes safety requirements and the presentation of the Safety Policy.  Contractors are pre-qualified and are required to sign in on arrival.  All employees and contractors are given site specific inductions as required.  Prior to commencement of any job, JEA’s are completed.

To ensure a proactive approach is taken, all employees and contractors are made fully aware of the Hazard Reporting System which are recorded on the Workplace Hazard Register.  In addition, lessons learnt from incidents and hazards are reported through Safety Alerts that are communicated via email, noticeboards and through meetings such as tool box meetings.

Consultation and communication on safety matters is dealt with through various meetings.  Tool box meetings are held regularly and deal with HSE matters at an operational level on a day to day basis, and IMS Committee meetings are for dealing with HSE matters at a system level.  Lastly, SAGE ensures its employees are suitably trained and supervised to ensure the delivery of high quality work that is undertaken in a safe manner.
