SAGE congratulates The Goodwood Indians Little League Program, which has been awarded the 2012 City of Mitcham Australia Day Award for Excellence in Sport.
The Awards for Excellence are held annually to recognise members of the community who have made significant contributions to the local community. The Sport award is awarded to an individual, team, group or school that have achieved in a sport or have supported or fostered a sport or club.
The Goodwood Indians Baseball Club was founded in 1889 and is the oldest baseball club in South Australia. The little league program, now in its fourth year, teaches baseball to more than 250 children between the ages of 3-9, is run by volunteers and parents who support the program by coaching, fundraising and staffing the BBQ and Canteen.
The Goodwood Indians have been based at Mortlock Park in Colonel Light Gardens since 1973. Over this 37-year period the club has developed strong ties with the local community through its Little League, Junior and Senior Programs.
The official awards ceremony will commence at 9am on Thursday 26th January in the grounds at Carrick Hill 46 Carrick Hill Drive Springfield. The Australia Day celebrations also include a citizenship ceremony, Aussie BBQ and entertainment.
SAGE is a proud sponsor of the Goodwood Indians Baseball Club and congratulations the club on this fantastic achievement.
